Fruit Shapes Please, Not Balls

Who doesn’t remember spending Saturday morning in your favorite PJs, with your favorite cartoons on and eating your favorite bowl of cereal. A wonderful childhood memory for anyone I would think.

Well guess what? It’s National Cereal Day and today would be a great time to bust out your favorite pair of PJs and grab your favorite cereal, watching your favorite cartoons. However make sure you’re at home and not at work…. people may begin to talk.

Anyway, my favorite cereal that I remember eating and would be a treat when my parents bought it was Trix. Oh those wonderful fruit shapes… the orangey slices, green limes, raspberry red clusters, lemony curls and grapity bunches. I could eat the whole box, but of course I had to share with my younger brothers and be a nice big sister. However, now the cereal has changed from fruit shapes to plain ole balls of swirly colors. Kind of boring to me, but they still taste ok. I miss the shapes though.

What was your favorite cereal as a kid?

I would have died of excitement if my mom had brought Trix home from the store! I begged her to buy them…but she only got ‘healthy’ cereal…Rice Crispies, Cheerios, Grape Nuts (blah)…Sometimes we would get Cinnamon Life, and that is still my favorite to this day :) I just a had a bowl for breakfast!

My parents would usually buy the store brand/knock off of some of the cereals which just wouldn’t taste the same. I could eat the Cheerios and Rice Krispies, but always added sugar to eat, so it wasn’t that healthy afterwards. LOL.

Did you know that not until very recently did I start liking cereal. I used to not be able to stand it. My kids however, love the stuff.

Oh my gosh you must be YOUNG! Because when I was little Trix were ball shapes…they changed it to the fruit shapes and I distinctly remember how happy I was to see them go back to the balls of my childhood! I never considered that some people might miss the fruit shapes!! I thought they were bulky and too hard to crunch, but I do love my Trix!

Yep, a young 34.. LOL. So I digged to see when the fruit shapes came out and it was back in 1992. So I was in middle school and I don’t remember them at all being in ball shaped. Go figure! Oh well, they still are good either way. I basically buy them for myself.. uh, the kids :)
